I once bought a tab book for 20 bucks and paid another 18 to get it printed as a book. Considering this and also the additional downloadable content you get with this book, this is an absolute killer deal for advanced guitar players and potentially a great gift for many. If there would have been a Quad Cortex preset as well, I would have tried to give 6 stars.I only regret discovering Chris too late and not getting my guitar signed at one of his gigs in Germany. The expression in his solos are penomenal.

Chris Buck shares some of his most requested guitar solos with transcriptions explaining and articulating the theme of his YouTube videos these are taken from.A great insight into his music with downloadable backing tracks, transcriptions and tone information.The backing tracks are excellent on their own - it would be great if these guitar parts were transcribed too!The challenge is trying to learn some of Chris’s musical essence and not just falling into just listening to his solos on continuous loop !

The first time I learned about Mr. Chris Buck was when I watched the YouTube video called “Possibly the most beautiful guitar solo I’ve heard”. A year later, I saw him perform live with the rest of Cardinal Black. I went to three more concerts after that.I appreciated the book even more because I saw how much heart and soul he has poured into his performances, his Friday Fretworks videos, and how he, in general, has the knack to be a great teacher as well. He encourages you to learn, have fun, and create your own; “channeling your personality through music,” as he put it.Each chapter begins with a dialogue excerpt from a Friday Fretworks video, then the music transcription. Straightforward and clear. Then there’s the downloadable and bonus content such as backing tracks, a Helix and Guitar Rig preset, etc. There’s also info on how to reach out if there are issues encountered (e.g., download problems).I’m a newbie in this so I take my time going through the book, and the way it has been put together makes learning reassuring and less intimidating. Quoting Mr. Buck again, “Gear will always be part of the story, but at its heart, music is about people.”

If you like Chris Buck, this book is for you. Even if you haven’t heard of him before, this is still the book to get. Many of us wonder how the pros sound so good. Sometimes it isn’t as complicated as we think. This book gives a lot of ideas how to play good solos. I think there will be many lightbulb moments for many people.
