These are good for some tasks, and you'll know which once you get the feel. They really are not very long, so the "comfortably safe" reach inside a pottery piece is limited. Kind of like extended fingers. Flat circle top, not rounded. Not a high grade sponge, as they are fairly porous and a little stiff, but useful for things that don't need a lot of smoothing. I am using fairly gritty clay, so this brings the grog up to the surface. Sponge head is not replaceable as it is just attached to the wooden dowel stick. I started to like using it a little more, the more I used it.

These are very short and small. I was looking for something to use in my taller pottery pieces. This is just helpful for short little vases.
