I bought this as my girlfriend had recently gotten into climbing, and I wanted her to feel safe and confident belaying me as I’m 90+ kg and she’s rather petite. Anyone that has used a GriGri in the past will know that it’s self locking mechanism never fails. And gives the climber and the belayer added confidence when climbing. The GriGri + does a little more than that. It has a panic switch when the belayer is letting the climber down, if they go too far on the lever it’ll self lock again and you have to put it back to the start position to start descending again. This stops an inexperienced belayer from putting the lever into maximum decent and slamming you into the ground if they freeze with it fully open. Another feature the GriGri+ has is you can change its modes between top rope, and lead climb. In top rope the device feels more grippy, and tight. In Lead climb it loosens up a bit and you are able to give slack more freely without the device locking. All in all a great addition to anyone’s climbing equipment bag. Worth the somewhat steep price. Oh and my girlfriend loved the pink!

Apparently I can't post comments in other language, so sorry for my google translate French.--I had an old GriGri2, and thought it would be a good idea to upgrade it to a GriGri+, as it was already getting quite dented where the rope has the most friction. The biggest thing that attracted me to it was that it was supposedly easier to feed the rope quickly on lead belay mode, without having to use the thumb to stop the locking of the device, which is a manoeuvre I really dislike doing. To be honest, I don't think it is that much easier than an old GriGri2 to feed the rope just by pulling it - but bear in mind my old GriGri2 already had less friction in the system anyway, and a new GriGri2 already made my life harder to feed the rope when I borrowed one from a friend once. The locking of the device when pulling the level too much is a great feature though - I tested it on purpose a couple of times to see if it works (it does), but in my normal routine of lowering people, it does not keep locking all the time as I was afraid it might, if the threshold to self lock was too low. It is a great extra safety mechanism and it does not interfere with regular, non panic use.I don't really belay on top rope so I don't know if changing the mode from top rope to lead and back is any useful. I certainly would find it annoying if I had to do it all the time in the crag, because one needs something to put in the hole in order for the switch to move.
