I guess it's a bit of nostalgia.That being said, as my own workshop facilities have increased I just keep on doing yet more work both renovating my house and simply making things including models.And a hole punch became a useful thing so I bought this set.The set is perfectly good for the job needed. Is it as good as an expensive industrial set? Maybe not, but I can say without a doubt penny pinching ship owners have supplied lower quality and I managed well enough. Bottom line is that it's good and works well.The set is compact and well packed to ensure you keep all the bits and pieces in place and it also makes it easy to carry around.The actual set is a type that uses screw on punch heads which does help keep things neat and tidy. However you need to make sure the unit is firmly screwed on to prevent the impact damaging the threads.One more tip. Clearly you need a surface that you can use to hit against that won't damage the punches when they are used. Some people use a bit of wood but on ships we often make up a small tray filled with lead. You use this as the impact base and when it starts to get lumpy, simply run a torch over it and hey presto! Nice and flat again.Overall, a great little set of wad punches at not much cost.
