I ordered this up by mistake but it turned out to be a great find. While this is a headphone splitter, this is for a 1/4 inch jack which is the larger of the two common headphone jacks. Originally, I was in need of the 1/8 inch (3.5mm) jack which is the common MP3 player or cell phone jack. But this is a great find for two reasons: One, in my audio mastering studio, I sometimes have guests who want to listen in and good sets of studio headphones use 1/4 jacks. Second, I can use the splitter with my bass amp.For example, if I wanted to send my practice drum machine and my bass both through the same amp for practice, this would be one easy way to tackle that goal.In short, just double check that 1/4 inch is what you need (it’s the bigger like guitar jack size) then from all I can tell thus far, you can’t go wrong with this.

I am able to connect 2 sets of headphones to my maudio interface. So me and a guitar/bass/keyboardist player can both hear what we’re doing live in the monitor. Before only one of us could hear what was happening live. It really makes this stealthy portable recording set up even more accessible for just myself jamming using headphones.

I actually wanted to use a 1/4 inch splitter in reverse to combine 2 acoustic guitar outputs into a single amp (the amplifier has only one 1/4 inch TRS stereo input). One acoustic guitar used a detachable pickup with no volume control and a cable with a male 1/4 inch connector, and the other acoustic guitar had a built in pickup with a 1/4 inch female connector (typical for most acoustic guitars with built in pickups). I used a standard 1/4 inch cable (male/male) for this second guitar. I plugged both guitar cables into the 'output' of this splitter cable and put the 'input' of this splitter cable to the amp input (Not what it was intended for). See the attached picture with the amp (the second guitar is not shown so that it might be a little more clear). To my surprise, the amp was able to amplify both guitars. However I did notice that the volume of each guitar was softer than if you plugged each guitar by itself directly into the amp. So I think the signal from each guitar gets attenuated (reduced) by using this splitter cable in reverse. In the end I might use a cheap mixer instead of this splitter cable. But it's good to know that you can use this in reverse!Note: The connectors were a tight fit. At first I thought that to be a drawback and was going to take away one star for the rating, but later realized that it's probably a good thing to be tight. You do have to use force to plug it in and to pull it out.Overall, I would recommend trying this out!

I ordered this Y cable to specifically listen to two audio sources through 1 set of headphones. It works. I was very pleased to hear that it works and that there is no audible signal loss. Everything about this Y cable feels like good quality.
