La storia
La storia della famiglia D'Addario nell'industria musicale iniziò nel 1670 quando Donato D'Addario lavorava come "cordaro", la parola italiana per "costruttore di corde". Da quel momento, la famiglia ha perfezionato l'arte della lavorazione artigianale delle corde e di altri accessori musicali.
Nel 1905, due cognati, Rocco e Carmine (Charles) D'Addario emigrarono ad Astoria nel Queens, NY, con l'intenzione di espandersi importando e vendendo le corde prodotte dalla loro famiglia a Salle, in Italia.
Nel XX secolo, la chitarra ottenne un'immensa popolarità grazie alla musica popolare. Negli anni '30 la famiglia D'Addario iniziò a produrre corde per chitarra, producendole su ordinazione per singoli musicisti e produttori di chitarre.
Tra la fine degli anni '40 e l'inizio degli anni '50, le chitarre con corde in nylon furono eclissate in popolarità dalla chitarra con corde in acciaio. Nel 1956, una società (Archaic Musical String Manufacturing Co.) iniziò a produrre corde in acciaio, gestita dal figlio di Charles, John D'Addario Sr. Nel 1962, le due società si fusero sotto il nome di Darco.
Alla fine degli anni '60, Darco fu contattato da Martin Guitars in merito a una fusione per unire le risorse e gli sforzi di sviluppo. Sebbene la partnership fosse vantaggiosa per entrambe le società, nel 1974 la famiglia D'Addario decise che era giunto il momento di commercializzare corde con il proprio nome e fu costituita la società J. D'Addario & Company.

高校生吹奏楽部活用。いつもは某青箱を使用。アルトはこちらのブランドを使用していたためソプラノも合わせて購入しました。安定して使いやすい『当たり』だったようです。

Organic reeds with packaging that's much more environmentally friendly than most? I'm all in. But, man, these were a tough go and really didn't do it for me. Based on other comments having to do with their hardness, I ordered a 3 rather than my preferred 3.5. Unfortunately, I received the latter. I tried 3 of them, and even with resurfacing, they were unyielding. Part of the issue could be that they are "filed" reeds. (As an unrepentant autodidact who has little interest in the technical ins-and-outs of such things, I don't know what that means [and haven't yet Googled it]). But the difficulty I had would seem to indicate a deeper issue; "seem" being the operative word. Perhaps I'd have a better experience with 2.5, and might give that a go at some point. Bottom line, my rating is balances the concept with the realization.

I like what these reeds stand for, first and foremost - no pesticides or odd chemicals in the reed plant. It's not something you normally think of, but these are things that you put in your mouth.As reeds, they're solid enough. They were very function, cut to the quality of name brand reeds, good for general purpose. I've been playing saxophone for nearly 40 years and they didn't distinguish themselves as particularly more suited for jazz or classical.From a "strength" standpoint, I'd say they feel they're a little harder than a standard Rico of the same measure, but that's a rough estimate.If you're health and environmentally conscious, these might be reeds for you to try out.
