Works as described. I used this with my Sony FDR-AX53 Handycam. It allows me to take a Line Out level from my audio mixer and feed that into the mic input of the Handycam. The 1/8-inch jacks are gold plated and there is also a gain control.

Crackly audio upon adjustment, and couldn’t even get a clean signal at almost any adjusted position. It simply doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do. Unusable sound quality and device in general, for me.

I bought the attenuator to use with the mic in on my panasonic v770 camcorder to get more precise levels for my audio so far works really well and no problems with dropped audo or anything, would probably gave 5 stars but the volume adjustment is really touchy you barley have to move the small dial and the volume goes up and down a lot so it takes a little xtra adjusting to get right for your application. That might be a little to picky and might work just fine for most but it can be a little frustrating when you are recording on camcorder and find out after words that audio is too low and can't hear clearly or too high.

Despite the two male plug complaint, this simple gadget does a great job. I have used it with both a video camera and a mirrorless camera connected to a church sound board. A little adjustment with the thumb wheel and no more audio distortion on video live feed.

I bought this "Cubilux 3.5mm Line Level to Microphone Level Attenuator Cable" in order to connect between a stereo line-level output from a stereo audio system and the "MIC/EXT IN" jack of a TASCAM DR-05X (would also apply to a DR-07X) handheld digital audio recorder, which expects the signals to be much lower than line-level.It works, but at least on my example, I think it is cheaply made and not very reliable. I heard crackling in the audio when adjusting the attenuation thumbwheel. The resulting (attenuated) output was not evenly attenuated, so signals that had good balance between left and right on the INPUT were noticeably louder on the left side OUTPUT signal. Since I can correct for this in my digital audio editing software, I can live with it for a while, but I have already purchased a more professional quality attenuator to replace it.
