This is a four piece router bit set. The bits can be used on most wood type products. It consists of three router bits plus one 1/4" to 1/2" shank adapter. The bits are identical and have 1/4" shanks. They are 1-1/2" cutting diameter slab flattening or spoilboard surfacing/planer bits. Each bit has four wings. Each wing has a solid carbide retangular cutter that has pre-sharpened and chamfered cutting edges on three sides. These bits can also be used for making slotting or rabbiting cuts. The high quality bits are a must have for every woodworker who uses routers.Would recommend these to anyone.

I got the 1-1/2" diameter bits because I thought the 1" bits would be too small and take too long. However, my router is a smaller one and so it could not drive the larger bit as well as needed. Also, my test piece was a slice of log that I wanted to smooth the surface to make a clock face. Trying to surface end grain is probably the toughest test I could have put it through and because the smaller router could not maintain a proper speed, I had some burn marks. While a 1" bit would have taken longer to complete the job, I think it would have had an easier time of it and left a cleaner surface. These bits come in individual capsules and are very sharp. Even after my grueling test piece, they seemed to remain sharp. I am sure I will be getting some good use out of them when I upgrade to a larger router and for this reason, I am very pleased with them.

BGTEC Spoil Board Router Bits.A nice set of three quality spoil board surfacing bits let down only by the description.Advertised as being metric with 25 mm outside diameter and 6.4 mm thick, they are actually imperial 1 inch diameter and 1/4 inch thick.Although this doesn't make a difference for surfacing, it will if you want to cut slots or a 25 mm hole. I know the difference in sizes is minimal but it can still be problematic if you are relying on a size with a tight tolerance. Also included is a nice 1/4 - 1/2-inch collet.Overall the bits seem to be good quality and give a very smooth finish. They are well worth the money and a five-star review but I have had to drop a star for the erroneous description.

The packaging states 'slotting bit' as opposed to 'spoilboard surfacing bit' but to be fair you could use them as either with a suitable guide attached to your router. They're a little small for surfacing but they cut fine so will do the job. I don't know how long they'll keep their edge but they are sharp and at the end of the day there are three of them. They will be useful and I'm happy to have them in my collection.
