Useful on the stairs and in corners where a vacuum cleaner is usually less effective or simply impractical.The "Addis Stiff Hand Brush, Metallic Silver" is an approximate colour match to our existing hand brush and pan and was intended to be used as an extra and alternative to its soft brush which not as effective in those areas for which this may work best. It is especially good at removing hair, street dust and grit, plant stems etc from carpets.Although of a slightly different shape and design, it clicks onto our existing Addis dust pan which is several years old as the fittings are identical. The brush is not 'stiff'by personal assessment but probably medium-stiff but still ideal for indoors.Addis brushes used in the past have always retained all or nearly all of their bristles whereas alternatives tended to shed most. Although worn and with many bristles bent but not broken or missing, the original brush is less effective than when new but still usable for light use only. As it is so inexpensive, should it later need to be replaced for any reason, it would not be an issue.

Strong, comfortable to hold, a sensible size - slightly bigger than most, but easy to use, and the useful built-in hook allows it to be hung up. Removing any dog hairs or similar that get caught up in the bristles is a doddle. It is worth knowing that the body is a one-piece moulding, making it pretty much indestructible, unlike some - see pic 5, also, surprisingly, from Addis.Incidentally, I was glad I bought the matching softer version as well - much better for sweeping up fine dust, with the two complimenting each other perfectly. Well worth the extra cost for the pair. (see the first two photos, taken from Google - the others are my own).You might find it useful to know that Addis make two matching dustpans. The first (pic3) is strong, practical and durable. The second (pic4) is "open", allowing dust to fly everywhere. An excellent idea, I thought, was the flexible silicone "lip" along the front. Unfortunately this hardened up after a few months, and became fragile and badly chipped. This made the front edge uneven, allowing debris to go under the dustpan,and rendering it useless. Avoid.
