This Organ needle DCx1 is for an old Babylock 418 serger which uses a very specific short shank. Schmetz & Klassé no longer manufactures their needles in Germany they moved production to India, & Singer is now made in China. I had to find a manufacturer I trusted.I purchased Organ because their's are still manufactured in Japan. It took a about 3 weeks for them to arrive but it's well worth the wait.They were packaged as pictured.These are quality needles, they are sleek, have a nice shine & smoothness. I purchased sharp tip which they definitely are.To hold me over until they arrived I actually went to a local sew shop & purchased a pack of 5 Klasseé needles for 1/3 price of these. IMO Klassé is far inferior. Needle #1 the tip apparently wasn't perfect, it snagged my fabric so I change it out. #2 worked for a while but the faster I sew the needle flexed so much it broke at the scarf. I thought it was just a bad needle maybe I didn't seat the needle correctly, or the timing was off, perhaps my fabric wasn't feeding right. I replaced the needle with #3 & double checked & slowed down. The blade snapped. I was on #4 needle & told myself maybe I would have to break down & slightly file the tip of the first bent one if it came to it.Thankfully my Organ needles came just in time. I immediately replaced the Klassé needle with the Organ needle. It's been 2 weeks since & I'm very satisfied with these. I know 100 count may be overkill & not all used in my lifetime since I most likely wouldn't be changing out any in the near future.
